• GetLiving: SMS, SMH

This month, give your loved ones a ring instead of a ping.

SMS: short messaging service, ie: text messages
SMH: shaking my head; a popular online acronym to express shaking one's head in disappointment, disagreement and/or disbelief

Happy September! It’s hard to believe summer is over, but fall is here, and that means it’s time for a new school year. Start off on the right foot with our monthly initiative, SMS, SMH.

The premise is simple: pick one day a week where, instead of texting, you make a phone call to the person to whom you want to reach out.

Quality conversation is so important, and by texting, we take a huge aspect of what makes conversations dynamic out of the equation: the human voice! By making more phone calls, you can improve and deepen your relationships with friends and family, especially those two don’t live nearby.

As always, feel free to make this initiative your own! For example, TextLess Live More’s Executive Director will be implementing “Facetime Fridays.”

“It’s a little spin-off of the GetLiving initiative this month, but I think FaceTime is one of the best tools my iPhone offers me to stay in touch with loved ones who are far away,” she says. “It’s awesome to add another human element to a tech-based conversation!”

Let us know how you’re practicing SMS, SMH this month!
