Our next Engagement Board intro is with Kamy!
Kamy is from Wyoming, and is a sophomore attending Arvada-Clairemont High School
Like all of our other Engagement Board members, Kamy is involved in quite a few other organizations and activities outside SADD and TLLM. She is a class representative for her school’s student council, a parliamentarian for FFA (a club focused on agriculture, leadership, and speaking skills), and the president for her school’s music honors society chapter. Kamy plays so many instruments: flute, piccolo, baritone sax, alto sax, tenor sax, and electric bass – she’s also learning the piano, guitar, drums, and trumpet! But wait, there’s more! Kamy ALSO plays volleyball and basketball, and has been playing both sports since the 5th grade. We don’t know how she does it all!
Kamy got involved with SADD when her school started a chapter during her 7th grade year. That year, the makeup of her chapter was almost exclusively fellow 7th graders and high school seniors. Kamy made a lot of friends, decided it was a very cool organization, and has even been president of her chapter for the last 2 years. That’s amazing!
Kamy loves the TLLM message of literally living more by committing to safer, non-distracted driving, but also the figurative idea of trying your best to live more and get more out of your daily life. Because of her experience with other organizations, Kamy has realized what changes need to be made to actually make our world better. She says “people need to be kinder,” and focus on their mental health.
As a sophomore, Kamy still has quite a bit of time before thinking seriously about college. However, she did tell us she is very interested in pursuing physical therapy as a career. It’s no surprise that someone as passionate and caring as Kamy would seek out an occupation focused on helping others.
