Have you been noticing the signs of spring?
The birds are back singing each morning. On walks we see little plant buds poking above the soil. The sun is out more, and the skies are (mostly) blue! March, the first month of spring, is in full swing.
There are many things to celebrate during this month -- but one dear to us is the National Day of Unplugging. Each year, TLLM observes the challenge to put our phones and laptops away in order to take some time to truly live in the moment.
NDU started in 2009, and here's a little bit of information from their website:
"National Day of Unplugging is an awareness campaign that promotes a 24-hour respite from technology annually observed the first weekend in March. For more than a decade, schools, religious institutions and businesses have used our resources to inspire healthy life/tech balance within their communities. Participation is open to anyone who wishes to elevate human connection over digital engagement."
As I'm sure we're all aware, too much screen time can be detrimental to our relationships, sleep habits, and health. After spending so much time on the computer during the pandemic, it seems like more and more people are doing their best to practice good screen practices, but we can always do better. It can be difficult to be away from our technology because of work, friends, or boredom. NDU gives us a great excuse to put down our phones and computers and truly embrace life.
Not sure what to do during your National Day of Unplugging? Here are some suggestions:
Whatever you end up doing, we hope you have a great day. Good luck!
